Fierce Clashes Erupt in Aleppo after Truce Breach by Terrorists

DAMASCUS (Tasnim) – Fierce clashes erupted between the Syrian army and Takfiri terrorists in embattled city of Aleppo despite a ceasefire announced earlier by Damascus and Moscow.

According to Tasnim dispatches, the fighting broke out in southwestern Aleppo after Takfiris affiliated to Jaish al-Horr terrorist group launched an offensive against Syrian troops early on Saturday.

The attack violated a truce which took effect at 0500 GMT on Thursday in a bid to allow civilians to leave and foreign-sponsored militants to quit the areas they are controlling in Aleppo.

Later, both Russia and Syria said they would extend the truce until Saturday. However, the terrorist group operating in Aleppo did not accept the pause.

Both Russian and Syrian Air Force fighter jets stopped their bombing of the militant-held neighborhoods in Aleppo on Tuesday – two days ahead of the truce.

Following the truce breach by the militants, Syrian troops heavily pounded the terrorists’ positions with mortar rounds, killing and injuring dozens of them.

Aleppo, Syria’s second largest city, has been divided between government forces in the west and the militants in the east since 2012.

In an attempt to free the trapped people of the city, the Syrian army, backed by Russian fighter jets, began a major offensive on September 22 to end the militants’ reign of terror in the east.
