Bahrain will soon join the great and pre-emptive axis of resistance that encompasses Syria, Hezbollah, Yemen and Iraq, Sheikh Abdullah Daqaq, Sheikh Qassim’s representative in Iran, told Tasnim on the sidelines of the 9th session of the Islamic Awakening Supreme Council in Baghdad on Saturday.
The axis of resistance is embodied in Iran, Syria, Iraq and Yemen as well as the resistance movements in Lebanon and Palestine that have stood up against the conspiracies of the global arrogance in the region.
Bahrain, a close ally of the US in the Persian Gulf region, has been witnessing almost daily protests against the ruling regime since early 2011.
Scores of Bahrainis have been killed and hundreds of others injured and arrested in the regime’s crackdown on peaceful demonstrations.
As regards the ongoing conference in Iraq, Daqaq said the purpose of the gathering is to raise the morale of the axis of resistance and strengthen the pre-emptive front in the face of US and Israeli hegemony.
Muslim clerics, scholars and intellectuals from 22 countries have taken part in the conference in Baghdad, the majority of whom are Sunni Muslims.
