Iranian FM Hails EU’s Constructive Role in Syria

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif welcomed the European Union’s constructive role in efforts aimed at settlement of the Syria crisis.

In a meeting in Tehran on Saturday, Zarif and EU Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini discussed Iran-EU relations and the latest developments in the region, particularly the crisis in Syria and ways to end the conflict.

Zarif in the meeting hailed the EU’s constructive role in efforts to peacefully end the war in Syria.

He also voiced Iran’s readiness for closer cooperation with the EU.

Mogherini arrived in Tehran on Friday night for talks with Iranian officials focusing on the crisis that has beset Syria for nearly six years.

She also had a meeting with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani.

The senior EU diplomat left Tehran for Riyadh on Saturday evening.
