Esteghlal Defeats Mes Kerman in Iran’s Hazfi Cup
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Esteghlal of Tehran football team advanced to the Round of 16 of the Iran’s Hazfi Cup after defeating Mes Kerman 1-0 on Monday.
Mohsen Karimi found the back of the net of the visiting team at the Azadi Stadium in 113th minute.
Esteghlal will meet the winner of Shohada Bijar and Saba in the Round of 16.
Furthermore, Tractor Sazi beat Malavan 1-0, Machine Sazi defeated Khuneh Be Khonneh 2-1, Naft Omidiyeh was defeated against Shahrdari Mahshahr 2-1, Saipa beat Baadraan Tehran 2-1, and Qashqai, who knocked Persepolis out of the Hazfi Cup on penalty shootout, lost to New Bargh 1-0.
The Hazfi Cup is the Iranian football knockout cup competition, run by the Iranian Football Federation.
The competition was founded in 1975. Esteghlal is the most successful club with six titles. The current title holder is Zob Ahan of Isfahan.
