EU Foreign Ministers to Meet Sunday after Trump Election: Germany

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - EU foreign ministers will hold a special meeting Sunday following Donald Trump's win in the US presidential election, a German diplomat said.

German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier "welcomes that an EU foreign ministers' meeting will take place Sunday," said a ministry source, AFP reported.

The talks will be held in Brussels, where the foreign ministers of the 28 EU member states will hold a regular meeting Monday.

Donald Trump garnered more than 270 electoral votes needed to win the US presidency on Wednesday. His triumph was welcomed in some countries, while others saw it as a big shock, as governments will now have to deal with a man who has told NATO allies they would have to pay for their own protection and vowed to make the Mexican government pay for a multibillion-dollar border wall.
