Iran Favors A Secure, Stable Iraq: Speaker

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani hailed Iraq’s recent victories against Takfiri terrorists, saying Iran hopes to see security and stability in the neighboring country.

The Islamic Republic of Iran’s officials and people have always wished to see a secure and stable Iraq and the welfare of all of the Arab country’s people, Larijani said Sunday in a meeting in Tehran with Khazir al-Khazaei, head of the political office of Iraq’s Islamic Dawa Party.

He expressed the hope that through the unity of all Iraqi political groups and adoption of integrated policies to tackle problems, peace will be fully restored to Iraq.

Larijani also lauded the Iraqi forces’ recent victories over Takfiri terrorists.

Khazaei, for his part, thanked the Islamic Republic of Iran for supporting Iraq and underlined the robust relations between the two Muslim countries.

In recent months, Iraqi army soldiers, backed by volunteer fighters, have achieved major victories in the fight against Daesh (ISIL or ISIS), retaking most of the areas the Takfiri terrorist group had occupied in 2014.
