No Taliban Members in Iran: FM Spokesman
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi quashed rumors on Tuesday that a number of Taliban leaders have visited Iran.
“The (reported) presence of Taliban elements in Iran is baseless,” Qassemi said on Tuesday, after reports by some Afghan media outlets about a visit to Iran by some Taliban leaders.
The spokesman also made it clear that Iran’s ties with Afghanistan are based upon intergovernmental, friendly and brotherly cooperation, with an eye to mutual interests and security.
