Scores of Terrorists Killed in Army Ambush Attack in Syria

DAMASCUS (Tasnim) – Syrian troops killed a number of militants affiliated with the terrorist group Fatah al-Sham (formerly al-Nusra Front) in an ambush attack along a road linking capital Damascus to the southern city of As-Suwayda.

After monitoring movements of the terrorists on a road lying near the Syrian Desert, south of the country, the Army forces planted several roadside bombs along the road and lay in ambush.

The bombs went off when the terrorists were trying to get on a highway linking Damascus to the city of As-Suwayda, killing and wounding almost all of them.

In a separate development in the southwestern city of Daraa, Syrian army troops shot down two explosive-laden drones flown by terrorist groups near a refugee camp.

Since March 2011, Syria has been hit by militancy and terrorism backed by some Western states and their regional allies.

According to a report by the Syrian Center for Policy Research, the conflict has claimed the lives of over 470,000 people, injured 1.9 million others, and displaced nearly half of the country’s pre-war population of about 23 million within or beyond its borders.
