Iran’s Army Ground Force Fit for Countering Modern Threats: Commander

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The outgoing commander of Iran’s Army Ground Force highlighted the capabilities that the servicemen have developed in recent years to deal with the new shape of threats.

Speaking at his farewell ceremony in Tehran on Monday, Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Pourdastan said the Army Ground Force has gained appropriate defense capabilities in recent years, proportional to the “new face of threats.”

He also said that the Ground Force’s might has broken the back of the enemies.

On Sunday, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei promoted Pourdastan to lieutenant commander of the Iranian Army.

The Leader called on him to push for an increase in the Army’s “intelligence and operational preparedness” under the command of Army Commander Major General Ataollah Salehi.

In a separate decree, Ayatollah Khamenei appointed Brigadier General Kiomars Heidari as commander of the Army Ground Force, urging him to make efforts to boost mobility and efficiency of the force proportional to modern needs.

Iran’s Army is comprised of four major powers, namely the Ground Force, Navy, Air Force and Air Defense.
