President Lauds Iranian Navy for Mighty Presence in Int’l Waters

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani heaped praise on the Navy for its outstanding role in protecting the country and contributing to its might in international waters.

Addressing a cabinet session on Sunday evening, President Rouhani highlighted the Navy’s great role in defending the country in the early days of an Iraqi imposed war in the 1980s and throughout eight years of the war.

He also put the spotlight on the Navy’s role in ensuring the country’s might in high seas.

Earlier on Sunday, which marked the national Navy Day, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei called for the enhancement of the Iranian naval forces’ presence in international waters and expanding the Navy’s power in balance with the merit of the Islamic Establishment.

In a meeting with Navy commander in Tehran, Ayatollah Khamenei described the Navy’s mighty presence in high seas as a factor that contributes to the strength and capability of the country, stressing that the depth of such presence should be increased.
