Iran Finishes First at Gold Kiev CUP GPF
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran came first at the Gold Kiev CUP GPF held in Kiev, Ukraine.
The Iranian team won three gold medals in powerlifting, three gold and two silver medals in bench press and two gold medals in dead lift.
Iran’s Saeid Fazeli lifted 425kg in powerlifting and set a new world record in the event.
The tournament brought 12 countries together in Kiev, Ukraine.
Powerlifting is a strength sport that consists of three attempts at maximal weight on three lifts: squat, bench press, and deadlift. As in the sport of Olympic weightlifting, it involves lifting weights in three attempts.
