Syrian Troops Seize Key Area in Eastern Aleppo

DAMASCUS (Tasnim) – Syrian troops intensified their attacks on terrorists’ positions in Aleppo, recapturing a strategic district in eastern neighborhoods of the northwestern province.

According to Tasnim dispatches, Syrian forces and their allies on Tuesday launched a major attack against Takfiri terrorists in Aleppo and managed to liberate the al-Shear neighborhood from the clutches of the militants.

The Syrian government forces, who are in full control of western Aleppo, have been conducting operations to purge militants from the city’s east.

The army troops are now working to defuse the explosive devices and mines left behind by terrorists across the regained areas.

Syria has been gripped by civil war since March 2011 with various terrorist groups, including Daesh (also known as ISIS or ISIL), currently controlling parts of it.

According to a report by the Syrian Center for Policy Research, the conflict has claimed the lives of over 470,000 people, injured 1.9 million others, and displaced nearly half of the country’s pre-war population of about 23 million within or beyond its borders.
