Iranian Army to Stage Major Military Exercises

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Army plans to hold large-scale military drills starting on Sunday.

Iranian Ground Force Commander Brigadier General Kioumars Heidari announced on Saturday that units from the Army’s four forces, namely the Ground Force, Air Force, Navy, and Air Defense, will take part in the extensive maneuver dubbed “Muhammad Rasullullah” 4 (Muhammad is the messenger of God).

The Army’s three-day military exercise will begin on Sunday in southeast of Iran, he added.

General Heidari added that the drills will be carried out in an area of 220 thousand square kilometers.

He further emphasized that one of the objectives of military exercises of this sort is to maintain and increase the readiness of the Iranian Armed Forces.

Over the past few years, Iran’s Armed Forces have held several military drills.

The Islamic Republic has repeatedly assured other nations, especially its neighbors, that its military might poses no threat to other countries, stating that its defense doctrine is based on deterrence.
