What We Know about Jabhat al-Shamiya (+Video)

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Jabhat al-Shamiya (Levant Front) group is one of numerous foreign-backed terrorist groups in Syria and is now operating in suburban areas of the recently-liberated northwestern city of Aleppo.

World

Jabhat al-Shamiya was formed on December 25, 2014, by the merger of a number of terrorist groups, including Islamic Front, Harakat Nour al-Din al-Zenki , Jaish al-Mojahedin, and Faylaq al-Sham.

This group, which was active in Aleppo before its liberation, is now operating in its suburbs. It has a history of cooperating with the Takfiri Jabhat Fateh al-Sham militant group, formerly known as al-Nusra Front. Its former military commander was Abdul Aziz Salama and the current military commander of the Takfiri group is Muhammad al-Harkush.

This terrorist group recruits Syrian and non-Syrian mercenaries and harbors international terrorists and cooperates with them. Meanwhile, it trains and supports foreign terrorists.

In a bid to shed light on the nature of Takfiri extremist groups and how they have come into existence, the Tasnim New Agency plans to provide its readers with a number of informative video clips.
