Mali Seeking Enhanced Ties with Iran: Speaker

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – President of the National Assembly of Mali Issaka Sidibe underlined his country’s keenness on boosting bilateral ties with Iran.

“We attach great significance to strengthening our relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran,” Sidibe said Wednesday in a meeting in Tehran with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.

He also praised the Iranian nation as a “resistant and resolute” nation who can accomplish whatever they seek.

The Iranian top diplomat, for his part, referred to the upcoming meeting of the Islamic Inter-Parliamentary Union (IIPU) in Mali and expressed the hope that the gathering will take steps toward promotion of Islamic unity in the face of common threats.

Zarif and Sidibe also discussed grounds for expansion of bilateral cooperation in different areas, especially in the parliamentary field.

Heading a parliamentary delegation, Sidibe arrived in Tehran earlier on Wednesday for a two-day official visit at the invitation of Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani.
