Iran to Announce Int'l Tender Offer on LNG Projects: NIOC

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Ali Kardor, the managing director of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), said the country plans to hold a major international tender for its LNG projects.

Speaking to Tasnim on Tuesday, Kardor said the tender offer will be put out for global contractors in the near future.

The NIOC has held talks with a number of major firms in order to attract more foreign investment in the country’s LNG projects, he added.

The Iranian official also said that the country’s oil ministry is carrying out initial studies to diversify the sources of its gas exports.

Iran has the world’s second largest proven gas reserves after Russia, with a potential to become a top producer. It plans to build a capacity to export 40 million metric tons of LNG a year.
