Esteghlal Khuzestan’s goal was disallowed in the first half but TV replays immediately showed that the referee’s decision was wrong.
Hassan Beyt Saeed put the visiting team into the lead in the 68th minute and Aliasghar Ashouri extended the lead in the 83rd minute.
Esteghlal pulled a goal back in the 87th minute courtesy of Kaveh Rezaei.
Earlier in the day, Tractor Sazi drew 2-2 with Sanat Naft in Tabriz.
Mohammad Ebrahimi and Omid Alishah scored for Tractor Sazi in the 8th and 62nd minutes, respectively, and Zobeir Niknafs and Ali Abdollahzadeh were on target for Sanat Naft.
Tractor Sazi remained in the second place one point behind IPL leader Persepolis.
Struggling Saba defeated Paykan 1-0 thanks to Omid Jahanbakhsh’s 82nd minute goal.
