Persepolis Downs Foolad in Iran Professional League
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran Professional League (IPL) pacesetter Persepolis football team defeated Foolad 3-0 on Wednesday.
In the match held in Ahvaz’s Ghadir Stadium, Abdollah Karami scored an own goal in the second minute of the match.
Vahid Amiri extended the lead in the 12th minute with a header and Ali Alipour made it 3-0 in the 48th minute.
Persepolis moved four points clear of Tractor Sazi at the top of IPL table.
“We earned a great victory today and I am so happy because of that. We have shown all the aspects you need to win the league. Persepolis was dominant team and could have scored more goals,” Persepolis coach Branko Ivankovic said.
Elsewhere, Sepahan defeated Naft Tehran 2-1 in Isfahan. Gostaresh Foolad defeated rock-bottom Machinesazi 2-1 in Tabriz derby, Siahjamegan and Padideh shared the spoils in Mashhad derby, and Saipa and Zob Ahan played out a goalless draw.
