Bahrainis Say Struggle to Continue till Freedom

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Bahraini anti-regime protesters took to the streets in the village of Diraz to voice readiness to continue their freedom-seeking struggle.

The demonstrators on Friday reiterated that they are ready to sacrifice their lives for their legitimate demands including freedom.

They also slammed the ruling Al Khalifa regime’s ban on Friday prayers in the village, which is the hometown of leader of Bahrain’s Shiites Sheikh Isa Qassim, and Manama’s recent execution of three young activists.

The Al Khalifa rulers have kept in place a ban on holding Friday prayers in the village for months.

Last week, the regime executed three anti-government activists over their alleged role in a 2014 bomb attack, amid widespread public anger against the death verdicts.

On January 9, Bahrain’s Court of Cassation upheld the death penalties given to Sami Mushaima, Abbas Jamil Tahir al-Sami’ and Ali Abdulshahid al-Singace over allegations of killing a member of Emirati forces who had been assisting Manama in its suppression of Bahraini protesters in the northern village of al-Daih back in March 2014.

Seven other convicts have also been sentenced to life in prison in the case.

Bahrain, a close ally of the US in the Persian Gulf region, has been witnessing almost daily protests against the ruling Al Khalifa dynasty since early 2011, with Manama using heavy-handed measures in an attempt to crush the demonstrations.

Scores of Bahrainis have been killed and hundreds of others injured and arrested in the ongoing crackdown on the peaceful demonstrations.

Amnesty International and many other international rights organizations have frequently censured the Bahraini regime for the rampant human rights abuses against opposition groups and anti-regime protesters.
