High-Ranking Security Mission to Visit Iran in March: Russian Official
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – An official with Federation Council, the upper house of the Russian parliament, said members of the council’s Defense and Security Committee are scheduled to pay an official visit to Iran in early March.
Viktor Ozerov, the chairman of the Defense and Security Committee at the Russian Federation Council, said representatives of the committee are planned to travel to the Iranian capital Tehran on March 1, Sputnik reported on Saturday.
He added that various issues, including arms sales’ contracts between the two countries as well as the ongoing crisis in Syria, will be discussed during the six-day trip.
Iran and Russia hold regular and close consultation concerning the latest developments in the region, Syria in particular, toward coordinating their efforts in helping restore security to Western Asia and the Arab country.
Syria has been gripped by civil war since March 2011 with various terrorist groups, including Daesh (also known as ISIS or ISIL), currently controlling parts of it.
