Iran-China Bilateral Trade Down by 7.7%

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The total value of bilateral trade between Iran and China in 2016 fell by 7.7 percent compared to the amount for a year earlier, the East Asian country’s customs data showed.

The value of trade transactions between Iran and China in 2016 stood at $31.2 billion, showing a 7.7 percent decrease, compared to the same figure in 2015, the latest data released by China’s customs office showed.

The total value of bilateral trade between the two Asian countries in 2015 had amounted to $33.8 billion, according to the report.

China’s exports to the Islamic Republic in 2016 also decreased by 7.6 percent compared to the exports a year earlier, amounting to $16.4 billion.

China, nonetheless, remains Iran’s top trade partner. The value of trade transactions between Tehran and Beijing stood at some $52 billion in 2014.
