Iran in Possession of Diverse Types of Missiles: IRGC Commander

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A senior IRGC commander highlighted Iran’s know-how to manufacture a wide range of military equipment, including missiles, saying that the country has developed various domestically-built surface-to-surface missiles.

Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Aerospace Force Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh said on Wednesday that the Islamic Republic has designed and indigenized various types of surface-to-surface missiles in different ranges based on the country’s needs.

“This (missile) capability is such that it has guaranteed the country’s security and that is why the enemy has been focusing on it,” he added.

General Hajizadeh said that Iran’s missile ballistic program is just an “excuse” used by the enemies against the country because they are opposed to the essence of the Islamic Establishment.

Highlighting the country’s major strides toward self-sufficiency in the area of air defense, the Iranian commander said Iran has developed such radar capability that it can detect any aircraft.

Iranian military experts and technicians have in recent years made great headways in manufacturing a broad range of indigenous equipment, making the armed forces self-sufficient in the arms sphere.

Tehran has repeatedly stated that its military might is defensive in nature and poses no threat to other countries.
