Syrian Forces Liberate Strategic Village near Al-Bab

DAMASCUS (Tasnim) – Syrian army troops backed by allied forces managed to recapture a village in al-Bab District in northwestern parts of the Arab country from the Daesh (ISIS or ISIL) terrorist group, Syrian sources said on Sunday.

According to Tasnim dispatches, the Syrian forces retook full control of the northwestern village of Abu Taltal in Aleppo Governorate and cleared the area from the foreign-backed terrorists.

With the advances, the Syrian army troops have reached areas less than two kilometers from al-Bab District and cut off main supply routes of terrorists in the region, the Syrian sources said.

Earlier this week, Syrian forces laid siege to al-Bab after making advances against Daesh toward the northwestern town.

The liberation of Aleppo in December has given momentum to the Syrian forces in their battle against terrorists in the country.

Syria has been gripped by civil war since March 2011 with various terrorist groups, including Daesh (also known as ISIS or ISIL), currently controlling parts of it.

According to a report by the Syrian Center for Policy Research, the conflict has claimed the lives of over 470,000 people, injured 1.9 million others, and displaced nearly half of the country’s pre-war population of about 23 million within or beyond its borders.
