Russian FM Calls on All Sides to Honor JCPOA Commitments

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov urged all parties to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) to comply with their commitments under the nuclear agreement and fully implement it.

Following a Saturday meeting with International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director-General Yukiya Amano on the sidelines of the 53rd edition of the Munich Security Conference (MSC) in Germany, Lavrov said, "(Amano) has confirmed that monitoring of this program's implementation shows that Iran fulfills its obligations and we assume that it will continue."

“But other parties to the agreement should also fulfill their obligations. I mean full lifting of restrictions on economic cooperation and other ties with Iran," he added.

On Sunday, the Russian foreign minister held talks with European Union Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini behind closed doors.

The two sides were also expected to discuss the implementation of the deal on the sidelines of the security conference.

Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France, and Germany) reached the nuclear deal in July 2015 and implemented it in January last year.
