FM Highlights Low Risk of Investment in Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif encouraged the European economies, Germany in particular, to invest in Iran, assuring them of low investment risks in comparison to the other regional countries.

Iran totally relies on its people when it comes to security and economy, and does not get its “development and security” from outside the borders, entailing the “lowest degree of risk” in any kind of economic cooperation compared to the other regional countries, Foreign Minister Zarif said at an economic forum, held on the sidelines of the 53rd Munich Security Conference in Germany on Monday.

Making a reference to Iran’s high level of commitment in trade cooperation with the private and state-run European companies in the past, Zarif described the Islamic Republic as a “reliable trade partner” for Europe, in particular for Germany.

He also called on the European states to take an independent stance towards Iran and not fall under the influence of the policies that jeopardize the Europe’s interests.

Back in December 2016, during a visit to Japan, Zarif had provided Japanese business people and merchants with reasons why Iran is a perfectly safe place for investment.

Highlighting Iran’s scientific and technological progress, as in nanotechnology, and the rising rate of the country’s economic growth after removal of sanctions under a nuclear agreement with the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany), Zarif had given an assurance that Iran presents the safest opportunity for investment.
