Army Inflicts Losses on Takfiri Terrorists across Syria

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Syria’s army and its allies continued to make gains in their military campaign against Takfiri terrorists across the Arab country, inflicting major material losses and casualties on them.

On Tuesday, Syrian forces targeted the positions of Daesh (ISIL or ISIS) terrorists in al-Howeiqa crossing near al-Jeser Al-moa’alaq, located in the western province of Deir ez-Zor, Syria’s official news agency, SANA, reported.

Large groups of the militants were killed and several of their vehicles destroyed during the clashes.

In addition, Syrian warplanes pounded the gathering centers of ISIL terrorists in the areas of al-Tharda, Sriet Jneid and al-Arfi in Deir ez-Zor, inflicting heavy losses upon them.

In a separate development, Syrian forces on Tuesday launched an offensive against the Jabhat Fateh al-Sham terrorist group (formerly known as al-Nusra Front) in the area of Khan Shaykhoon located on the outskirts of northwestern province of Idlib, leaving scores of them dead and injured.

Also, Daesh terrorists suffered serious setbacks after the army and its allies launched a major operation against them in the town of al-Salmiya in the southern province of Sweida.

Syria has been gripped by civil war since March 2011 with various terrorist groups, including Daesh, currently controlling parts of it.

According to a report by the Syrian Center for Policy Research, the conflict has claimed the lives of over 470,000 people, injured 1.9 million others, and displaced nearly half of the country’s pre-war population of about 23 million within or beyond its borders.
