Yemeni Forces Pound Saudi Mercenaries’ Position with Homegrown Missile

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Yemeni army and Popular Committees fired a domestically-made missile at the Saudi-led forces’ position in the northwestern province of Hajjah, killing and injuring a number of Saudi mercenaries, a military source said.

They targeted the enemy position with a homegrown missile dubbed “Zelzal-1” (Earthquake-1) in Midi District in Hajjah Province, the Arabic-language Al Mayadeen TV quoted the source as saying.

Following the missile attack and operations to recapture the eastern parts of the port city of Mocha, a number of mercenaries of the fugitive former President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh, were killed and injured, according to the report.

Yemeni forces had previously targeted Saudi positions with ballistic missiles named “Qaher-1”, which has a range of 500 kilometers.

They carry out the attacks in retaliation for the continued massacre of civilians and destruction of the country’s infrastructure by the Saudi-led coalition.

Since March 2015, Saudi Arabia and some of its Arab allies have been carrying out deadly airstrikes against the Houthi Ansarullah movement in an attempt to restore power to Hadi.

Nearly 11,000 Yemenis, including thousands of women and children, have lost their lives in the deadly military campaign.
