Jorge Fossati Hopeful of Defeating Iran in World Cup Qualifier
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Qatar football team head coach Jorge Fossati is optimistic of defeating Iran in the Russia 2018 Asian Qualifier.
Qatar sits second from bottom in Group A, while Team Melli (the Iranian national football team) leads the group with 11 points.
The match will be held in Doha’s Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium on Thursday.
Carlos Queiroz’s side is the only unbeaten team in Group A.
“We know how difficult this game will be because Iran is a strong team but my players are well-prepared for the match,” the 64-year-old Uruguayan coach said in the pre-match news conference.
“We know Iran has not conceded a single goal so far and we also know the team has many ways to find its rivals’ goal. Iran is very good defensive team and they also are strong in attack,” Fossati added.
“I’ve seen the first match between two teams in Tehran where Qatar lost 2-0 but I have to say the Qatari players missed so many scoring chances in that match,” Fossati concluded.
