Women's Asian Cup Qualifiers: Iran Downs Singapore
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran humiliated Singapore 6-0 in Group D of the Women's Asian Cup Qualifiers in Hanoi, Vietnam on Wednesday.
Maryam Azmoun’s side kept alive its hopes of qualifying for the 2018 AFC Women’s Asian Cup in Jordan.
Zahra Ghanbari opened the scoring in the 14th minute and Sara Ghomi scored a brace in the 15th and 53rd minutes. Fatemeh Ghasemi made it 4-0 for the Iranian team in the 84th minute and Foroogh Mouri was on target twice in the 87th and 88th minutes.
Iran, who has lost its opener to Myanmar 2-0, will face Vietnam and Syria on April 9 and 11 respectively.
The AFC Women's Asian Cup qualification is the qualification tournament for the 2018 AFC Women's Asian Cup in Jordan.
This tournament also serves as the first stage of qualification for the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup for the Asian zone, with the top five teams of the final tournament qualifying for the World Cup.
