Iran’s Moradi Wins International Tehran Marathon

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Mohammad Jafar Moradi from Iran claimed the title of the First International Marathon in Tehran, Capital of Iran on Friday.

In the 40 kilometer run, Moradi finished in first place and won $3,000 cash prize.

Mohammad Faraji and Ehsan Zeinivand came second and third and won $2,500 and $1,500 cash prizes respectively.

In 21 kilometers race, Ali Akbar Barzi finished in first place, followed by Saber Charkhi and Hassan Shirghavi.

And in 10 kilometers race, Hossein Keyhani won the title ahead of Morteza Beiranvand and Rahim Dibaei.

Parisa Arab won the women’s 10 kilometers race with a time of 38 minutes and 19 seconds.

Majid Keyhani, the head of Iran's track and field federation, said that although no professional runners were taking part this year he hoped they would enter the ‘Persian Run’ in future.

Several dozen foreigners took part in the marathon, from around 40 different countries.
