IRGC Navy to Receive New Cruise Missiles

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy is going to take delivery of a large cargo of Naseer, a cruise missile developed by local experts for naval battles, Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan announced.

Speaking to reporters on Saturday, Dehqan said the IRGC Navy will be soon equipped with the new homegrown missile in large quantities.

Fired as a coast-to-sea or sea-to-sea cruise missile, Naseer can hit various naval targets, including military vessels or piers, the minister said.

The cruise missile can be rapidly prepared for launch, enjoys high navigation precision, has great destructive power, can be fired from speedboats, and has anti-jamming features due to an advanced radar system, the general added.

He made the comments on the sidelines of a ceremony attended by President Hassan Rouhani in which the latest domestically-made military products developed by the Defense Ministry, including the country’s first homegrown jet trainer, dubbed Kowsar, were unveiled.
