Mahmoudi Out of Iran National Volleyball Team for One Year

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Shahram Mahmoudi withdrew from volleyball for at least one year for treating his injuries.

Newly-appointed coach Igor Kolakovic held a one-hour meeting with Mahmoudi to change his mind but the opposite striker said that he will be out of the team at least for one year.

Mahmoudi, 28, had already announced he would quit after the Rio 2016.

He was a member of the team which qualified for the Olympic Games for the first time in history in 2016, where the team finished at the 5th place in the competitions.

The 1.98m player started his career in 2006 with Aidaneh Chaldoran VC and has also played at Paykan Tehran, Petrochimi Bandar Imam, Aluminium Hormozgan, Matin Varamin, Kalleh Mazandaran, Shahrdari Urmia and Sarmayeh Bank.
