U-16 WABA Championship: Iran Downs Iraq

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran earned second victory at the U-16 West Asia Basketball Association (WABA) Championship 2017 on Friday.

The Iranian team beat Iraq 85-58 in Tehran’s Azadi Hall.

Iran started the campaign with an 84-42 win against Syria.

Next game will be against Jordan on Saturday before the final showdown with Lebanon, in what is expected to be the gold medal match.

The finalists will qualify for the FIBA Asia Under-16 Championship.

The competition is an under-16 basketball championship in the International Basketball Federation's FIBA Asia zone.

The event started in 2009 and is held bi-annually. The winners compete in the FIBA Under-17 World Championship, which started in 2010.
