Army Continues Advances against Takfiri Terrorists across Syria

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Syria’s army and its allies continued to make gains in their military campaign against Takfiri terrorists across the Arab country, inflicting significant casualties and damage on them.

World

On Sunday, Syrian forces targeted the positions of the Jabhat Fatah al-Sham terrorist group (formerly known as al-Nusra Front) in the southwestern province of Daraa, killing a large group of them in the districts of Ebtaa and al-Sheikh Miskin, Syria’s official SANA news agency reported.

The terrorists’ gathering centers in the areas of al-Wardat in the northern countryside of the province were also pounded by the government forces.

Separately, the army troops clashed with Daesh (ISIL or ISIS) terrorists near Deir ez-Zor airport in west and killed dozens of them.

Daesh hideouts in the villages of Hawijit Saqar and Hatla in the northern countryside of the province were also heavily shelled by the Arab country’s artillery.

Additionally, the ISIL terrorists suffered serious setbacks in Homs central province after the army troops launched separate offensives against them in the areas of al-Abtar Mount, al-Bareda, al-Qaryatayn, al-Qaryatayn Dam, Oum Sahrij, and Jub al-Jarah.

Over the past six years, Syria has been fighting foreign-sponsored militancy. UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura estimated in August that more than 400,000 people had been killed in the Syrian crisis until then. The UN has stopped its official casualty count in Syria, citing its inability to verify the figures it receives from various sources.
