Syria Army Recaptures One More Area in Hama

DAMASCUS (Tasnim) – Syria’s army and its allied forces continued their military campaign against the Jabhat Fatah al-Sham (formerly known as al-Nusra Front) terrorist group in Hama, managing to retake another key area in the west-central province.

According to Tasnim dispatches, Syrian forces launched an operation against the remaining positions of al-Nusra Front terrorists in Hama and seized control of  the town of Masasaneh in west of the province.

Fierce clashes are now underway between the government forces and the militant group in the surrounding areas of Hama.

The latest developments came after the army on Sunday succeeded in liberating the areas of Halfayia, Zalin, al-Wabida, Zour al-Nasiryia, Zour Abu Zaid, Talet al-Nasiryia and Talet al-Mintar from the grip of the militants in Hama.

Over the past six years, Syria has been fighting foreign-sponsored militancy. UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura estimated in August that more than 400,000 people had been killed in the Syrian crisis until then. The UN has stopped its official casualty count in Syria, citing its inability to verify the figures it receives from various sources.
