Al-Nusra Terrorists Suffer Major Losses in Syria’s Daraa

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Syrian forces heavily shelled the positions of the Jabhat Fatah al-Sham (formerly known as al-Nusra Front) terrorist group in Daraa, leaving a large group of them dead and injured in the southwestern province.

On Tuesday morning, Syria’s artillery pounded the hideouts of al-Nusra terrorists in the neighborhoods of al-Sad Road, al-Abbasiyeh, al-Furn, al-Jmrouk, al-Qadim, and al-Shayyiah on the southeastern outskirts of Daraa, Syria's official news agency, SANA, reported.

Dozens of the Takfiri militants lost their lives during the bombardment.

The army earlier claimed the lives of at least 12 Daesh (ISIL or ISIS) militants in a separate development in the area of al-Banourama in the eastern province of Deir ez-Zor after army troops hit their positions there.

Over the past six years, Syria has been fighting foreign-sponsored militancy. UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura estimated in August that more than 400,000 people had been killed in the Syrian crisis until then. The UN has stopped its official casualty count in Syria, citing its inability to verify the figures it receives from various sources.
