Syria Army Recaptures Key Hilltop in Homs

DAMASCUS (Tasnim) – Syria’s army and its allies continued to make gains in their military campaign against Daesh (ISIL or ISIS) terrorists in Homs, retaking a key hilltop in the central province.

Syrian forces on Sunday stepped their attack on the Takfiri militants in the eastern countryside of Homs, and seized control of Tallet al-Midraj hilltop there, Syria’s SANA official news agency reported.

Three more areas were liberated in the province from the clutches of the terrorists.

A large group of the militants were killed and injured during the clashes.

In a separate development, the Syrian government forces targeted the positions of the ISIL militants in the neighborhood of Seriet Jneid in the eastern province of Deir ez-Zor, inflicting major losses on them.

Over the past six years, Syria has been fighting foreign-sponsored militancy. UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura estimated in August that more than 400,000 people had been killed in the Syrian crisis until then. The UN has stopped its official casualty count in Syria, citing its inability to verify the figures it receives from various sources.
