Asian U-23 Volleyball Championship: Iran into Final

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran defeated Thailand in straight sets to book a place at the 2017 Asian Men's U-23 Volleyball Championship final.

On Monday, Juan Cichello’s men beat Thailand 3-0 (25–22, 25–19, 25–20) at the 6,000-seater Rezazadeh Indoor Stadium in Iran's northern city of Ardabil.

Iran will face Japan on Tuesday in the final match and Thailand meet Chinese Taipei in the third-place match.

The tournament’s top two teams Iran and Japan joined host Egypt, South American champion Brazil, European winner and runner-up Poland and Turkey, Argentina, Cuba and Mexico, African winner Algeria, Italy and Russia in the 12-team World Championship in Cairo, Egypt.

The competition has kicked off on May 1 in Ardabil, Iran and will run until May 9.
