Syria Army Continues to Make Gains against Daesh, Al-Nusra

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Syria’s army and its allies stepped up their attacks on Takfiri militants across the Arab country, killing and injuring a large group of them.

On Monday, Syrian forces targeted the positions of Daesh (ISIL or ISIS) terrorists in Homs, inflicting major losses on them in the areas of Rajem al-Ali, Tal Shiha and Talet al-Medrajeh in the eastern countryside of the central province.

Separately, Daesh terrorists suffered serious setbacks in Hama after Syrian government forces launched separate attacks against them in the neighborhoods of Salamiyeh, al-Sheikh Hilal and Athrieh in the eastern countryside of the west-central province.

Large groups of the militants were killed and several of their vehicles destroyed in the attacks.

Moreover, the gathering centers of Jabhat Fatah al-Sham (previously known as al-Nusra Front) terrorists in Hama were hit by the army in the town of Hurr Binafseh.

Also, Syrian warplanes pounded the positions of ISIL terrorists in al-Tharda and al-Boghilia districts in the eastern province of Deir ez-Zor, killing scores of them.

Over the past six years, Syria has been fighting foreign-sponsored militancy. UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura estimated in August that more than 400,000 people had been killed in the Syrian crisis until then. The UN has stopped its official casualty count in Syria, citing its inability to verify the figures it receives from various sources.
