Iran Crowned Asian Men’s U-23 Volleyball Champion

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran won the title of the 2nd Asian Men's U-23 Volleyball Championship on Tuesday.

The Persian wept past powerhouse Japan 3-0 (27-25, 26-24, 25-20) in Ardabil’s packed Rezazadeh Hall.

Rahman Taghizadeh of Iran was named the competition’s Most Valuable Player.

Earlier in the day, Chinese Taipei won the bronze medal after defeating Thailand 3-1 (19-25, 25-21, 25-23, 25-22).

Juan’s Cichello’s team overpowered Pakistan 3-0 in its opening match. Iran defeated Malaysia 3-1 in the second match and earned three 3-0 wins over China, Kazakhstan and Thailand respectively.

Iran won the first edition in Myanmar beating South Korea 3-0 in the final match.

Iran and Japan also qualified for the 2017 FIVB Volleyball Men's U-23 World Championship which will be held in Cairo, Egypt.
