Iran’s GC Ready to Host Candidates’ Reps on Election Day: Spokesman

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The spokesman for Iran’s Guardian Council (GC) said the GC is prepared to host representatives of the six presidential candidates on the day of voting, slated for May 19.

Speaking to the Tasnim News Agency, Abbasali Kadkhodaei said arrangements have been made for the presence of the candidates’ representatives to monitor the voting process and report any possible electoral offenses.

Like in the two previous editions of the presidential election, representatives of the candidates are allowed to be in the GC on election day, he noted.

The Iranian presidential vote is scheduled to be held this Friday.

During the previous presidential election in June 2013, Hassan Rouhani garnered 50.7 percent of a total of over 36 million votes.

According to Ali Asghar Ahmadi, the head of the Interior Ministry’s State Elections Committee, a total of 56,410,234 Iranians can cast their ballots in the election this year.
