Islamic Solidarity Games: Karate Fighter Nasrin Dousti Wins Gold

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian karate fighter Nasrin Dousti claimed the gold medal on Saturday in the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games.

Dousti beat Serap Ozcelik from Turkey in the final match of the Women’s Kumite -50kg at the Baku Sports Hall to win the gold medal.

Rozita Alipour took a silver medal in the Women's Kumite -61kg after being defeated by Farida Abiyeva from Azerbaijan.

In Women's Kumite -55kg, Taravat Khaksar seized a bronze medal.

Mehdizadeh won a bronze medal in the Men's Kumite -60kg, beating his Saudi Arabian rival.

Iranian Judoka Alireza Khojasteh won a bronze medal in the Men's -66kg. Nijat Shikhalizada from Azerbaijan defeated Houd Zourdani from Algeria in the final match.

Iran Men’s 4x100 m Freestyle team consisting Mehdi Ansari, Benyamin Ghareh Hassanloo, Jamal Chavoshifar and Sina Gholampour claimed a bronze medal. Gold medal went to Turkey swimming team and Indonesia took the silver.

Earlier on the day, Iranian shooters Narjes Andevari Emamgholinejad and Elaheh Ahmadi took the gold and silver medals in the Women's 10m Air Rifle.

The Baku 2017 Islamic Solidarity Games started May 8 and will last until May 22 in Azerbaijan’s capital.
