Iran Claims Title of Asian Freestyle Wrestling Championship

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran won the title of the 2017 Asian Freestyle Wrestling Championship for the 25th time on Sunday.

Iran won the title with 71 points, claiming three gold medals, one silver and four bronzes.

Japan finished in second place with 55 points and Uzbekistan sat at third place, bagging 49 points.

In 61kg, Behnam Ehsanpour defeated North Korean Han Song Kim to win the gold medal.

Alireza Karimi won the title, beating Azamat Dauletbekov from Uzbekistan in 86kg.

Yadollah Mohebi defeated Indian Sumit in the 125kg final bout.

Hossein Shahbazi took a silver medal in the 97kg weight class. Reza Atri finished in third place in the 57kg, Meisam Nassiri grabbed bronze in the 65kg, Hamed Rashidi won the bronze medal in the 70kg and Bahman Teymouri took a bronze medal in the 74kg.

The Iranian Greco-Roman team had previously won the title of the 2017 Asian Wrestling Championship.
