Islamic Solidarity Games: Mahdi Eshaghi Wins Iran’s 10th Gold Medal

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Taekwondo fighter Mahdi Eshghi from Iran claimed a gold medal at the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games in Baku on Tuesday.

In the men's -54kg final, Eshaghi defeated Gashim Magomedov from Azerbaijan 3-0 and won the gold medal.

Turkey’s Deniz Dagdelen and Mohamadou Moustapha Kama from Senegal jointly won the bronze medal.

Narjes Andevari Emamgholinejad in the 10-metre air rifle, karate fighters Nasrin Dousti and Sajjad Ganjzadeh, judoka Saeid Mollaei, Najmeh Khedmati at the women's 50m rifle 3 positions, Golnoush Sebghatollahi in the women's 10m air pistol, Pourya Norouziyan in the 50m rifle 3 position, weightlifter Seyedayoob Mousavi and Nahid Kiani at taekwondo have previously won nine gold medals for Iran.

More than 3,000 athletes from 54 countries of the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation are competing in 21 sports at the Games.

The Baku 2017 Islamic Solidarity Games started May 8 and will last until May 22 in Azerbaijan’s capital.
