Asian Women’s U-23 Volleyball Championship: Iran Loses to Hong Kong

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran was defeated against Hong Kong in straight sets 25-14, 25-22, 25-18 at its 5th-8th playoff match at the 2nd Asian Women’s U-23 Volleyball Championship at The Mall Nakhon Ratchasima’s MCC Hall on Saturday.

Chim Wing Lam scored a match-high 17 points for Hong Kong consisting of 13 kills from 44 attempts, 2 blocks and 2 ace serves, while Koo Yung Yung added 9 points.

Mona Ashofteh led Iran with only 9 points, all from her destructive spikes.

Iran will play Malaysia on Sunday in seventh place match.

The 2017 Asian Women's U-23 Volleyball Championship is a biennial international volleyball tournament organized by the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) with Thailand Volleyball Association (TVA).

The tournament will serve as the Asian qualifiers for the 2017 FIVB Volleyball Women's U-23 World Championship held in Ljubljana and Maribor, Slovenia with the top two ranked teams qualifying for the world championship.
