Iran’s Sarmayeh Bank Defeats Taiwan Power at Asian Women’s Club Volleyball

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Sarmayeh Bank earned its first victory in the 2017 Asian Women's Club Volleyball Championship on Friday.

Iran defeated Taiwan Power of Chinese Taipei 3-1 (18-25, 25-21, 25-22, 25-22) in Pool A.

“We played well and this is something important for the Iranian people. I hope we do even better in the next matches,” Sarmayeh Bank’s Farnoosh Sheikhi told asianvolleyball.

The Iranian team, who has lost to Supreme Chonburi of Thailand 3-1 in its first match, will face Kazakhstan’s Altay on Saturday.

The competition is being held in Ust-Kamenogorsk, Kazakhstan from May 25 to 31.

The tournament will serve as the Asian qualifiers for the 2018 FIVB Volleyball Women's Club World Championship with the champion qualifying for the world championship.
