Iran Beach Soccer Moves to Third in World Rankings

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian national team has moved up two places in the beach soccer world rankings published on Wednesday.

Iran won the bronze medal in the 2017 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Nassau, Bahamas last month.

Recently crowned FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup champion Brazil leapfrogs former holder Portugal to the top of the rankings after lifting the trophy in the competition.

While former champion Portugal slips to second place, Iran climbs two spots into third ahead of Russia while FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup runner-up Tahiti is back into the top five following its run to the final.

Switzerland remains in seventh, eighth-place Paraguay swap places with Japan, who now sits ninth, while UAE ends May in the top 10, having narrowly missed out on a place in the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup quarter-final.
