Iran Research Centers Can Provide Good Understanding of Regional Issues: Velayati
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran provides a good opportunity for a proper understanding of the Middle East developments thanks to its high-profile research centers, Head of the Strategic Research Center of Iran's Expediency Council Ali Akbar Velayati said.
Possessing multiple research centers at high levels, Iran can help others obtain a proper understanding of the region, Velayati said at a meeting with head of the Swedish Parliament’s Research Centre Gunnar Fors in Tehran on Tuesday.
He also stressed the need for close regional and international cooperation between Iranian and Swedish research centers.
Unlike the past, international politics is today a function of regional developments, the Iranian official said.
For his part, Fors said he has held constructive negotiations on research cooperation during his stay in Iran, expressing the hope that his trip would result in enhanced ties between Tehran and Stockholm.
In February, Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lofven paid a visit to Iran with a high-ranking diplomatic and economic delegation.
In his trip, Iran and Sweden signed five agreements on cooperation in science and technology, higher education and research, road construction, telecommunications, and women and family.
