TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei reminded the US of its inability to harm the Islamic Republic, saying the inexperienced White House officials will have to face reality after getting a kick in the teeth.

On Sunday evening, a group of families of the Iranian border guards martyred in service and of the martyrs defending the holy Shiite shrines had a meeting with Ayatollah Khamenei in Tehran.

In the gathering, the Leader opened up by speaking on the concerns of the people, namely on the recent barrage of threats from the US government and their allies, and stated, "Don't take all the huff and puff of the newcomer in the US seriously. The US has always wanted to overthrow the Islamic establishment of Iran."

"Our Revolution faced big enemies from the start," the Leader noted, asserting that the recent distasteful threats from US President Donald Trump were nothing new or original, according to Khamenei.ir website.

Imam Khamenei then added, “The only thing that has changed, is the tone of speech; We have always faced the huff and puff since the early days of the revolution -for nearly 40 years now- they couldn’t do anything then, when the newly-born revolution was a small seedling in the ground; they surely can't cut it down now, since it's grown into this strong fruitful tree.”

Ayatollah Khamenei then spoke to remind the audience that old challenges have never broken the Islamic establishment.

To that notion, he added, "You say you want to change the Islamic Republic? You have always wanted to overthrow the system; and you always failed with everything backfiring on you, and of course that won't change."

“You see, from the beginning of the Revolution, we had countless numbers of those who wished to destroy the Islamic Republic, and they are now in the depths of hell, leaving this world with regret and frustration,” Imam Khamenei explained.

The Islamic Republic stands with full authority, and after this, it will be the same, the Leader added.

They must know this, everyone must know, the enemy, their sincere friends, and those friends who sometimes hesitate, that the Islamic Republic is firmly standing, and know they cannot knock us down, we will bring them down, the website quoted Ayatollah Khamenei as saying.

The Leader then praised the efforts of the holy shrine defenders and border guards who have been a pillar of security for the Islamic nation, and added, "If the defenders of the holy shrine were not there (in Syria), the enemy would have brought the battle to our streets by now. Part of the great security we have today is thanks to border guards; these brave border guards and martyrs are not given the attention they deserve."

The Leader also touched on the realities in Iraq and Syria, sating, "In Iraq, they (terrorist groups) wanted to reach the borders of the Islamic Republic, they were pushed away, and they were hit hard; now they're becoming completely depreciated and swept away. In Syria, if the work done by our valued commanders had not been carried out, we now had to fight very close to home."

Ayatollah Khamenei reiterated, "An important part of today's security is greatly owed to the defenders of holy shrines. Another reason for our security is due in great part to our border guards. Our border guards and martyrs must be given the attention they deserve."

"The people must acknowledge their (defenders’ and border guards’) great service to them (the people). Service is not just providing water and bread; above all, it is security," Ayatollah Khamenei concluded.
