Iran’s FM, Mauritania’s President Meet in Nouakchott
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, who is on tour of North Africa, met with Mauritania’s President Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz on Monday.
During the meeting in the Mauritanian capital of Nouakchott, Zarif and Abdel Aziz explored avenues for expansion of the two countries’ ties in political and economic areas.
They also discussed regional developments and both stressed the need for peaceful resolution of disputes among regional countries through dialogue.
After a one-day stay in Algeria and a number of diplomatic meetings there, the Iranian top diplomat Algiers left for Nouakchott on Monday on the second leg of his tour, which will later take him to Tunisia.
Zarif arrived in Nouakchott this morning and was welcomed by his Mauritanian counterpart Isselkou Ould Ahmed Izid Bih.
